FUNDING-EPA -- MICROELECTRONIC MONITORING OF CELLULAR STATUS (PRESOL); March 22, 2018

Agency

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)

Description

The Environmental Protection Agency requires a contractor to perform microelectronic monitoring of cells in culture to measure altered cellular physiology/pathology in response to exposure to potential environmental toxicants. Use of this approach provides a sensitive measure of changes in cellular physiology that may correlate with toxic activities of test compounds. These results will be used in the ToxCast Project for prioritizing compounds for more in-depth toxicological evaluation. Use of physiologically relevant cells (lines) is required, including cells with phase I and phase II metabolic capabilities as well as primary cells. Co-cultures of multiple cell types that provide relevant physiological conditions are also of interest. The Contractor shall use a microelectronic cell monitoring system to measure the response of one or more rodent or human cells types to compounds from the ToxCast library. The compounds from the ToxCast library will be supplied to the contractor by the EPA or by an EPA contractor.
