FUNDING-Limited Submission – NIST – Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) (2018-NIST-SURF-01); February 12, 2018

 

Purpose: The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) invites applications for its 2018 Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF). The SURF program provides undergraduate students with hands-on research experience under the mentorship of NIST scientists and engineers, to expose the students to cutting-edge research and promote the pursuit of graduate degrees in science and engineering. 

 

Note: This funding announcement applies ONLY to the NIST location in Boulder, Colorado, which has a limit of eight (8) applicants per institution. (The SURF program in in Gaithersburg in Maryland has no applicant limit. See the funding announcement for details.)

 

Eligibility: United States citizens or U.S. permanent residents

Funding Amount/Project Period: up to $5,500 for an 11-week program

 

Institutional Limit:  1 application to nominate up to 8 undergraduate students

 

Internal Competition: Internal coordination of the single application package to the NIST Boulder SURF program will be handled by the College of Engineering. Faculty with interested students should contact Dr. Eric Grulke at eric.grulke@uky.edu or call 859-257-6097.
