(FOA)-USAID
Scholars Activity; September 19, 2019
Agency:
USAID/Egypt
Description:
USAID/Egypt
will issue a cooperative agreement award for a 10 year scholarship activity to
provide undergraduate scholarships to promising talented Egyptian students with
high financial need, building on the lessons learned and best practices of
previous scholarship activities supported over the last fourteen years. The
activity will provide opportunities for disadvantaged youth in Egypt who have
the potential to be leaders, to gain skills and knowledge in an array of fields
critical to the development of Egypt. Many essential components including
English language training, career counseling, semester/summer in the US, and
job placement services will be provided to enable participants to contribute to
Egypt’s development.
Specifically,
the activity should provide full tuition awards for a minimum of 500
undergraduate scholarships total. The partner universities should be
not-for-profit universities/institutions of higher education in Egypt that meet
the earmark requirements. The 10 years of the activity are intended to allow
five cohorts of students to finish their undergraduate studies. Based on Egypt’s
developmental challenges and USAID’s priorities, each year the recipient of
this award together with USAID will determine the focus fields/areas of study
of the scholarship activity. The first cohort of scholars (first year) will be
awarded scholarships that are focused on three development areas: water, energy
and agriculture.
