(FOA)-Limited Submission – American Association for the Advancement of Science – CASE Workshop: Catalyzing Advocacy for Science and Engineering; January 28, 2019

 

Purpose: The American for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Office of Government Relations is excited to announce that the 6th annual CASE Workshop: Catalyzing Advocacy for Science and Engineering (CASE) will take place March 24-27, 2019 in Washington, D.C. The CASE workshop offers an opportunity for graduate students and upper-class undergraduate students in science, mathematics, and engineering disciplines come to Washington, DC, to learn about science policy and advocacy. Students who are selected by their institution to participate in the workshop will spend several days learning about the structure and organization of Congress, the federal budget and appropriations process, and tools for effective science communication and civic engagement. Sponsoring institutions will also have the opportunity to schedule Congressional visits on Capitol Hill for their students for Wednesday, March 27.

 

Note: Eligible students must be enrolled full time in an undergraduate (upper class) or graduate degree program in one of the following fields:

 

Funding Amount/ Project Period: UK Research will support registration,travel, and lodging costs for students who are selected for 3 ˝ days in Washington, DC.

A committee will be convened to review the material and make a recommendation.
