FUNDING - Limited Submission – Department of State – U.S. Embassy Ankara Grants Program (ANK-NOFO-FY18-02); June 12, 2018

 

Purpose:  The U.S. Embassy Ankara, Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Department of State, announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to carry out a program to Support Shared Security, Strengthen Economic Prosperity, or Reinforce U.S.-Turkish Shared Values. Project objectives are as follows:

 

•                     Support Shared Security – Projects that support and advance cooperation between the U.S. and Turkey on defeating ISIS/Daesh and other extremist groups; projects in Turkey that support advancing stability in Syria; all facets of counterterrorism efforts; and transnational crime. Also projects that support and advance cooperation between the United States and Turkey in NATO and other multilateral security organizations.

•                     Strengthen Economic Prosperity – Projects which promote trade and investment with the United States, and support entrepreneurship and innovation. Projects which support science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education among Turkish youth.

•                     Reinforce U.S.-Turkish Shared Values – Projects which build mutual understanding and promote U.S.-culture, including American Studies, English teaching/learning, music, art, sports, and education, and encourage study in the United States. Also projects that support human rights, women’s and youth empowerment, LGBT rights, diversity, acceptance of minority groups, and other areas of mutual interest that promote freedom and democracy.

 

Preference will be given to individuals and organizations with a proven track record of executing superior cultural and NGO events and programs. Applications with an American component are considered stronger.

Projects that have an established working Memorandum of Understanding among all partners will also be considered stronger. Projects should have a public teaching/public dialogue or educational component.

 

Funding Amount:  $10,000 to $140,000

Internal Competition: To participate in the university’s selection process,please upload the following,assembled into a single PDF file, to the Office of the Vice President for Research via this portal with a copy to your Associate Dean for Research by June 12, 2018:

• Names and departments or affiliations of the Project Director and other key personnel or partners;
• Title of program and/or funding opportunity announcement number;
• Brief project description (2 pages maximum)

 

A committee will be convened to review the material and make a recommendation.
