Fund Grants to Advance Physics; April 22, 2021
Agency
American
Physical Society
Description:
The
mission of the American Physical Society is to advance and diffuse the
knowledge of physics for the benefit of humanity, promote physics, and serve
the broader physics community, by providing a welcoming and supportive
professional home for an active, engaged, and diverse membership; advance
scientific discovery and research dissemination; advocate for physics and
physicists, and amplify the voice for science; share the excitement of physics
and communicate the essential role physics plays in the modern world; and
promote effective physics education for all.
To
that end, APS welcomes applications for its Innovation Fund, which will award
grants of between $25,000 and $100,000 per year for up to two years in support
of collaborative projects that support the society's mission. Projects should
be led by current APS members and advance an interest of the physics community
that have arisen as a result of current circumstances and align with the APS
Strategic Plan.
Proposals
could include, but are not limited to: a task force, workshop, or study to
explore a critical issue facing the physics community; an innovative public
engagement experiment; a new approach to science advocacy; a means to advance
key APS member interests including diversity, careers, education, or member
services; or a path to enable APS to have greater industry engagement or global
impact.
