Award-Fulbright US Scholar Opportunities in 2013-14; August 1, 2012

Did you know that India is the largest Fulbright US and Visiting Scholar program, worldwide? For US scholars and professionals, there are more than 80 grants available. Awards are open to all disciplines, in research and/or teaching (http://www.cies.org/Fulbright/india/). Beyond India, awards are available across South and Central Asia, from Kazakhstan to Sri Lanka. The South and Central Asia Regional Research award is great for comparative work, as scholars can undertake research in 2 or more countries in the region.

How does one get started? The 2013-14 Catalog of Awards is online at http://catalog.cies.org/. We have updated the Catalog – not only the country and award descriptions, but the search functionality as well. We have also restructured the information online about the program in general, tips for applying, project statement guidelines, and much more on the US Scholar page of our website to make it easier for applicants to navigate (http://www.cies.org/us_scholars/us_awards/).

In addition, your colleagues may find these resources to be helpful:

- Our webinar schedule is online at http://www.cies.org/Webinar/: Topics range from country/region to application-specific topics (e.g., Applying for Fulbright).  Be sure to check out the archived webinars, as well.  We published a webinar specifically about the India Fulbright-Nehru Program just this week.

- Fulbright Scholar List, http://www.cies.org/schlr_directories/: Our alumni directory illustrates the diversity of applicants, disciplines, and project topics.

Please share this message with your colleagues.  If you know of an American scholar who might be interested, please feel free to respond to this message with his or her name and we’ll be glad to follow up.  We are happy to answer any questions you or they may have. The deadline for receipt of applications is August 1, 2012.
