Description
The
Bogliasco Foundation supports the arts and
humanities by providing residential fellowships at its study center in Italy's
most vibrant, historic crossroads, where gifted artists and scholars of all
cultures come together to connect, create, and disseminate significant new work.
To that end, the foundation is inviting applications for its fellowship program.
The program awards one-month fellowships to individuals of all ages and
nationalities who have made significant contributions in the arts and
humanities. Fellows live and work in bucolic surroundings on the Italian coast
near Genoa, where natural beauty combines with an intimate group setting to
encourage inquiry and transformative exchange across all
disciplines.
The
foundation awards fellowships to individuals doing creative or scholarly work
in the following disciplines: archaeology, architecture, classics, dance,
film/video, history, landscape architecture, literature, music, philosophy,
theater, and visual arts.
Fellowships
cover room and board, but do not provide a travel or living stipend. Fellows
are assigned private work spaces equipped with ample work surfaces, a desktop
computer, a printer, cabled and wireless internet service, which is also
accessible across the Study Center. Some of the studios include special
amenities, such as the visual arts studio, which includes basic equipment for
painting, sculpture, and graphics, the music studio, which is equipped with an
upright piano, keyboard, and a recording/playback system, and the
400-square-foot dance studio, which features a sprung floor with Marley, a
sound system, a small work station, and optional 10-foot by 7-foot
mirrors.
Due
to the coronavirus pandemic, the foundation has had to reschedule many canceled
residencies to future semesters. Therefore, the selection process for the
upcoming round of applications for Spring 2022 fellowships will be highly
competitive and very few will be available. The foundation will give priority
to applicants who would be eligible for its current Special Fellowships, which
include the Bogliasco and Baryshnikov Arts Center
Joint Fellowship, Bogliasco and Ludwig Foundation
Special Fellowship for a Cuban artist or scholar, The Arthur F. and Alice E.
Adams Charitable Foundation Fellowship in Literature, Aaron Copland Bogliasco Fellowship in Music, Edward T. Cone Bogliasco
Fellowship in Music, the Van Cleef& Arpels Fellowships in Choreography and Poetry, and the
Virginia Howard Fellowship.
