NABC 21:  Adapting Agriculture to Climate Change

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
June 24 -26, 2009
University of Saskatchewan
Canada

Message from the meeting chair, Dr. Scoles

NABC meetings have focused on a number of the "big" issues facing agriculture. This year's meeting focuses on climate change, specifically how can agriculture adapt to what climate change may bring. The format follows that of other NABC meetings, a number of plenary session modules on different topics each with keynote speakers followed by some brief comments from responders. Breakout groups will then address questions related to the module. Graduate student participation is encouraged by NABC through "The Student Voice". The proceedings of the meeting will be published by NABC.
As Chair of NABC 21, it is my pleasure to invite you to Saskatoon for the meeting. NABC 21 sessions will be held on the campus of the University of Saskatchewan. A block of rooms has been reserved at the Sheraton Hotel downtown. This and other downtown hotels are about a 20-minute walk across the river from the campus; however, a bus shuttle will be provided each morning and evening. Accommodation is also available in residences on campus. Please note that hotel bookings should be made early in order to take advantage of the block booking and also note that flights into Saskatoon tend to fill early.
For those of you that would like to extend your stay in Saskatchewan and take advantage of the extended summer evenings, links are provided from our home page to various opportunities. The Saskatchewan Jazz Festival begins immediately after NABC21 and again a link is also provided from our home page.

I look forward to seeing you later this year.

Graham

The NABC addresses central questions of agricultural biotechnology from a multi-constituency perspective. Through its annual meetings, publications, and other outreach efforts, the NABC strives to provide an open forum for persons with different interests and concerns to come together to speak, to listen, and to learn from meaningful dialogue on the potential impacts of agricultural biotechnology and to define issues and public policy options related to biotechnology in the food, agricultural, and environmental areas.
