Description

The US Department of Energy – Office of Science announced DE-FOA-0002034, Atmospheric System Research (ASR). The Atmospheric System Research (ASR) program in the Climate and Environmental Sciences Division (CESD), Biological and Environmental Research (BER) of the Office of Science (SC), U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), supports research on key cloud, aerosol, precipitation, and radiative transfer processes that affect the Earth’s radiative balance and hydrological cycle, especially processes that limit the predictive ability of regional and global models. This FOA solicits research grant applications for observational, data analysis, and/or modeling studies that use observations supported by BER, including the Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) user facility, to improve understanding and model representation of 1) aerosol-cloud interactions and 2) high-latitude atmospheric processes; 3) to support aerosol and cloud research associated with ARM’s Tracking Aerosol Convection Interactions Experiment (TRACER); and/or 4) to develop new proof-of-concept data products from ARM site instruments. All research supported from awards under this FOA is intended to benefit the public through increasing our understanding of the Earth system.

An individual researcher may participate in no more than one (1) application as lead Principal Investigator and may have a Senior Personnel role in no more than two (2) applications (e.g. as principal investigator, co-investigator, other senior personnel) in response to this FOA.  Cost sharing is not required.
