(FOA)-National
Priorities: Research on PFAS Impacts in Rural Communities and Agricultural
Operations (EPA-G2020-ORD-B1); February 11, 2020
Agency
US
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
Description
The
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is seeking applications to better
understand the potential impacts of per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) on water quality and
availability in rural communities and agricultural operations across the United
States. The Agency is seeking new information on PFAS occurrence, fate, and
transport in water sources used by rural communities and agricultural
operations, and new or improved PFAS treatment methods appropriate for small
drinking water and wastewater systems including influents, effluents, and biosolids/residuals.
Since
projects should be national in scope (and to the extent that EPA or other
published methods are available), projects should use analytical techniques and
methods that will allow data and models to be scaled up to the national level
and scaled down to local levels. Sampling protocols should also attempt to
capture the variety of PFAS compounds (including precursors and degradation
products) that are present in a variety of matrices (air, soil, sediment, biosolids, surface water, groundwater, crop/animal tissue,
and source water quality).
A
minimum 25% cost match is required.
