Business Management and Benchmarking (FBMB) Competitive Grants Program

Purpose: The National Institute of Food and
Agriculture (NIFA) Farm Business Management and Benchmarking (FBMB) Competitive
Grants Program provides funds for improving the farm management knowledge and
skills of agricultural producers by maintaining and expanding a national,
publicly available farm financial management database to support improved farm
management. The assistance provided by these programs, to the extent
practicable, shall be coordinated with, and delivered in cooperation with
similar services or assistance by other Federal Agencies or programs supporting
improved farm management. FBMB encourages (but does not require) projects that
develop content suitable for delivery through eXtension (https://extension.org/). The Secretary may give priority
to applicants that:
1)
Demonstrate an ability to work directly
with agricultural producers;
2)
Collaborate with farm management,
education programs and associations;
3)
Address the farm management needs of a
variety of crops and regions of the United States; and
4)
Contribute data to support the national
farm financial management database https://finbin.umn.edu/.
Specifically,
applications are being solicited to address one (1) or both of the following
objectives:
1)
Maintain
and expand the already established national, publicly available farm financial
management database to support improved farm management knowledge and skills
for producers of a variety of crops and livestock throughout multiple regions
of the United States, and
2)
Establish
or expand collaborative farm management educational programs and association
partnerships that will contribute data to the existing national farm financial
management and benchmarking database to improve the farm management knowledge
and skills of agricultural producers.
