Alliance
Description
The
Conservation Alliance is a group of outdoor businesses that seeks to protect
threatened wild places in North America for their habitat and recreational
values. As a group of outdoor industry companies, the alliance recognizes its
responsibility to help protect the wildlands and waterways on which its
customers recreate and wildlife thrives.
To
that end, the alliance is awarding grants of up to $50,000 to projects that
seek to secure the permanent and quantifiable protection of a specific wildland
or waterway. Priority will be given to landscape-scale projects that have a
clear benefit for habitat. Campaigns also should engage grassroots citizen
action in support of the conservation effort and must have a clear recreational
benefit.
In
addition, conservation organizations are welcome to apply to the Public Lands
Defense Fund. Launched in January 2017, the fund supports organizations working
to preserve and defend the integrity of our public lands system. The fund will
award grants in support of efforts to defend existing protections for
landscapes and waterways on public lands (e.g., national monuments, roadless areas, wilderness study areas, mineral withdrawal
areas); defend bedrock conservation laws (e.g., Wilderness Act, Antiquities
Act, National Environmental Policy Act); and oppose the proposed transfer of
federal lands to the states or into private hands.
To
be eligible, applicants must be a 501(c)(3)
organization. Before applying for funding, an organization must be nominated by
one of the alliance's member companies.
