Funding-Limited
Submission - USDA – Extension Outreach on the Marketplace Exchanges of the
Affordable Care Act; July 9, 2013
The
National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) announces the availability of
funding and requests applications for the Extension Outreach on the Marketplace
Exchanges of the Affordable Care Act Competitive Grants Program to address the
education needs of Americans by providing information and tools to make health
insurance decisions associated with the roll-out of the Marketplace Exchanges.
The purpose of this grant program is to target areas of the country with high
numbers of individuals that do not have health insurance and focus education
and outreach efforts on these specific areas so consumers will be able to make
informed decisions regarding their participation in their State Marketplace
Exchange.
The
focus of this grant opportunity is specifically on extension outreach
education. Proposals with a focus on research, formal education, or
clinical interventions will not be considered. Program management
activities should be carried out primarily by Cooperative Extension specialists/educators/agents,
rather than subcontractors.
The
amount available for support of this program in FY 2013 is approximately
$795,455.
NIFA
will accept only one (1) application per land-grant institution.
See
the complete program announcement for additional details and
requirements: http://www.nifa.usda.gov/funding/rfas/ext_outreach.html
Because
the Department of Agriculture only allows an organization to submit one
application, the
University of Kentucky has established an internal selection process.
Individuals interested in submitting to this program are to submit the
following materials electronically to the Office of the Vice President for
Research at limitedsubmissions@uky.edu
and a copy to their Associate Dean for Research by Tuesday, July 9, 2013:
A
committee will be appointed to review the information and make a
recommendation. Questions about the submission process may be sent to Ms.

The
USDA deadline is July 26, 2013.
