Funding-Limited Submission – William T. Grant
Foundation - Scholars Program; June 3, 2013
Description: The William T. Grant
Scholars Program supports promising early-career researchers from diverse
disciplines, who have demonstrated success in conducting high-quality research
and are seeking to further develop and broaden their expertise. Proposed
research plans must fit the Foundation’s research interests.
Foundation Research
Interests: The
Foundation currently supports research to understand and improve the everyday
settings of youth ages 8 to 25 in the United States. Specifically, it funds
studies that enhance understanding of:
·
How youth settings work, how they affect youth development, and how they
can be improved; and
·
When, how, and under what conditions research evidence is used in policy
and practice that affect youth, and how its use can be improved.
Amount: William T. Grant
Scholars receive $350,000 distributed over a five-year period. At least half of
the Scholar’s paid time must be spent conducting research.
Link to Guidelines: A description of the
program is available here.
Eligibility/Limited
Submission: Applicants
must be nominated by their institutions. Major divisions (e.g., College of Arts
and Sciences, Medical School) of an institution may nominate only one applicant
each year. Candidates must have received their terminal degree within seven
years of submitting their application. In medicine, the seven-year maximum is
dated from the completion of the first residency.
·Applicants
must be employed in career-ladder positions. For many applicants, this means
holding a tenure-track position in a university.
·The
award may not be used as a post-doctoral fellowship.
·Applicants
outside the United States are eligible.
·Applicants
of any discipline are eligible.
Internal Competition: Because the William
T. Grant Foundation will accept only one
application from each college,
individuals interested in submitting an application should contact their
Associate Dean for Research for information on their college’s internal
deadlines and procedure.
All nominations from
each college must be submitted by the Associate Dean for Research to the Office
of the Vice President for Research at limitedsubmissions@uky.edu by June 3, 2013 to enable the
Vice President for Research to prepare appropriate documentation as needed.
Foundation
Deadline: July
8, 2013.
Questions
about the submission process may be sent to Ms. Annette Evans in the Office of
the Vice President for Research (alevan4@email.uky.edu
