Funding-Equine Drug Research Council; February 1, 2011

The Equine Drug Research Council (EDRC) of the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission (KHRC) is issuing a call for research proposals.  The EDRC, by statute, will support “drug research, testing research, equine medical research, and equine health research issues.”  Proposals are to be submitted using the template provided and may be designed for one or two year study period, with a funding limit of $50,000 per year. The deadline for submission of proposals is 4:00 p.m. on Monday, February 1, 2011.  Proposals submitted after the deadline will not be considered. 

The timeline for review and funding recommendations is as follows:

February 1, 2011               Submission deadline

February-April                   Internal and external reviews performed

May/June 2011                 Research Advisory Working Group makes one of the following recommendations to EDRC; KHRC for each proposal:

               1) funding recommended;

2)  minor changes, funding recommended;

3) resubmission (with substantial changes) recommended,  at the next call  for    proposals; 

4) funding not recommended; resubmission not recommended

July 1, 2011                         Successful applicants notified; funding cycle begins
