Leadership Program
Description
The Environmental Leadership Program
supports visionary, action-oriented, and diverse leadership for a just and
sustainable future by providing emerging leaders with the support and guidance
they need to launch new endeavors, achieve new successes, and rise to new leadership
positions. Since 2000, ELP has created a dynamic network comprising six hundred
of the country's emerging environmental and social change leaders.
ELP's
fellowship program offers intensive leadership and skill training, regional and
national networking opportunities, and time for personal and professional
reflection. The curriculum helps emerging leaders hone their leadership styles,
improve their organizational strategy, and strengthen their outreach to
diverse constituencies.
Eligible
applicants should demonstrate a passion and capacity to exercise leadership and
respond to social and environmental challenges; the willingness to actively
contribute to the program as well as take advantage of its benefits; a
commitment to the values of diversity and justice within the environmental and
social change fields; the ability and desire to remain an active member of the
ELP Senior Fellows Network after the conclusion of the year-long fellowship;
and an eagerness to connect with and learn from others.
Applicants
will be evaluated on the basis of leadership potential, the nature of their
work or area of expertise, their ability to convey a coherent vision for
environmental progress, and their ability to reach diverse constituencies.
Particular attention will be given to the applicant's accomplishments,
background, and professional progress as shown in their resume and the clarity,
breadth, and thoughtfulness of responses to the narrative question in the
application.
