IPM Grant RFA: September 19, 2011
EPA has
posted the RFA for the Regional Ag IPM Grant program. Deadline is September
19, 2011.
EPA’s Office of Pesticide Programs (OPP), in coordination
with the EPA Regional Offices, announces the availability of approximately
$500,000 for assistance agreements to further, through research, development,
monitoring, public education, training, demonstrations, or studies, the adoption
of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approaches to reduce pesticide risk in
production agriculture settings in the United States. IPM is a sustainable
approach to managing pests by combining biological, cultural, physical, and
chemical tools in a way that minimizes economic, health, and environmental
risks.
Proposed projects must: 1) further through research, development,
monitoring, public education, training, demonstrations, or studies the adoption
of IPM tactics that reduce the risks associated with pesticide use, and 2)
demonstrate the importance and relevance of the proposed project on a regional
level.
Eligible applicants include the 50 States, District of Columbia,
U.S. Virgin Islands, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, any territory or possession of
the United States, any agency or instrumentality of a State including State
universities, and all Federally recognized Native
American Tribes. The total estimated funding expected to be available for awards
under this
competitive opportunity is approximately $500,000. The Agency
anticipates funding approximately ten (10) projects, one per EPA Region, with a
maximum funding level of $50,000 per project. The project period of performance
is limited to two years. Selections and awards will
be made by EPA’s Regional
Offices.
