Funding-Food and Farm Communications
Fund
Description
The Food and Farm Communications
Fund was established in 2012 to help educate the public about the sustainable
food and agriculture field. In 2013, the fund awarded grants totaling $349,000
in support of efforts to help the media better
understand and report on the sustainable food movement; media and advertising
training for farmers; and the creation of related television, online news, and
documentary programming.
The current funding cycle — a collaboration between the Grace Communications Foundation,
the11th Hour Project, and the McKnight Foundation — will
support projects to expand the communications capacity of sustainable food and
agriculture education and public policy organizations.
Grants of up to $100,000 will be
awarded for specifically targeted media/communications efforts, projects that
aim to remove the "roadblocks" to better communications aimed at
affecting consumers and public opinion, and/or media and communications
campaigns that address specific public policy issues.
