Funding-Limited Submission – Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation for Cancer Research; July 1, 2016

 

Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation has provided significant financial support to some incredibly promising physician scientists, who are applying novel and state-of-the-art techniques to address fundamental problems in the genesis and treatment of blood related cancers. The Foundation is committed to funding innovative, translational proposals and to supporting promising independent junior investigators. Projects will be funded for a three-year period at $75,000.00 per year (contingent on the submission of acceptable annual progress reports).

 

The University of Kentucky has been invited to nominate one applicant in each of the following two categories:

·         One Mainstream/Conventional research project

·         One Integrative Medicine (attached Grants Guidelines provide more detailed Integrative information)

 

Eligibility requirements – Applicants must:

·         Have an MD or PhD;

·         Be an Assistant Professor in a tenure track position or be an independent junior faculty member;

·         Have held the current position no longer than five years;

·         Clearly state they have both independent research projects and independent resources; and

·         Have preliminary results and/or publications from their independent laboratory

 

To comply with the sponsor’s limit of one per category, the University of Kentucky Office of the Vice President for Research and the Markey Cancer Center are implementing an internal nomination process and deadline. Researchers wanting to submit an application are to send the following material electronically as a combined pdf to the Markey Cancer Center at nathan.vanderford@uky.edu and a copy to their Associate Dean for Research by Friday, July 1, 2016:

·         Applicant’s name, department, rank or position, and date of appointment

·         Specify the category - Mainstream/Conventional or Integrative Medicine

·         Description of proposed research project (2 pages maximum)

·         Applicant’s NIH biosketch (new 5 page format)

 

The Markey Cancer Center will coordinate the internal review process. The deadline for the complete application to the Foundation is August 12, 2016.
