Funding-Grayson-Jockey
Club Research Foundation--RESEARCH CALL; October 1, 2014
Once
again, Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation looks forward to receipt of proposals
on the soundness and health of horses. We are particularly interested in
musculoskeletal issues, but of course are also interested in the full range of
infectious diseases, laminitis, cardio-pulmonary problems, etc.
Starlight
Stable has issued a challenge grant of $75,000 for laminitis research
contingent on our raising a like amount, which we are confident we can do.
Therefore, we expect to have $150,000 earmarked for laminitis, although it
would not all have to be spent in 2015. Also, additional grants on laminitis
would be eligible for the none-earmarked funds.
We
remind you that as of last year, the Foundation relaxed its policy on overhead
and again will provide up to 10% for that purpose.
Also,
the Klein Family of Louisville has created a $15,000 Career Development Award,
which we can add to the existing Storm Cat Career Development Award. A single
application will suffice for both.
The
deadline for general research grants is Oct. 1 and the deadline for the Career
Development Awards is Nov. 1. The forms are available on our website,
grayson-jockeyclub.org.
We
would appreciate your circulating this information to any and all appropriate
parties within your institution. Also, please let us know of anyone else you
believe should receive this alert.
Sincerely,
Edward
