Funding-Limited Submission- Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) - National Rural Health Policy and Community Development Program (HRSA-14-080); March 4, 2014

 

Description: This announcement solicits applications for a cooperative agreement to develop and maintain projects that will help support rural communities through a broad range of activities including:

·         identify and promote national policy issues and promising practices for rural health care providers focused on: quality of care; economic viability; access; workforce (recruitment and retention); and the changing health care environment as it relates to insurance coverage expansion.

·         promote available resources to communities for help in shaping their local health care systems to best meet community need;

·         promote promising practices to help rural communities with quality initiatives;

·         identify and translate the key points from emerging policy issues to rural health care providers, researchers and policymakers;

·         work with state-based entities such as State Offices of Rural Health (SORHs) and State Rural Health Associations (SRHAs) in identifying key rural health challenges, programs and resources that will assist rural communities in addressing these challenges and that will inform the national policy discussions; 

·         provide technical assistance to small entities and rural communities for the purpose of improving access to quality rural health services while ensuring a rural perspective is included in national quality forums.

This cooperative agreement requires an ongoing partnership with significant involvement from ORHP staff in the projects and in the development and implementation of the activities submitted in the work plan.

Institutional Limit: Multiple applications from an organization are not allowable.

 

Internal Competition:  Because HRSA limits the number of proposals to one per applicant per program, the University of Kentucky has established an internal selection process.  Prospective applicants interested in responding to this program should send the following information to the Office of the Vice President for Research at limitedsubmissions@uky.edu and a copy to their Associate Dean for Research by Tuesday, March 4, 2014:

  1. Names and departments of the Project Director and project personnel;
  2. Title of the program and/or funding opportunity announcement number;

3.     Provide a brief abstract (2 pages max) of the proposed project.
