Submission – Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet – Department for Energy
Development and Independence 2014 Energy Research Grant Program; March 11, 2014
The purpose of this Grant Program is to
select and award grants to applicants with qualifications and experience to
successfully develop and perform energy research and development projects in Kentucky.
Details and guidelines are provided in the complete RFP which is attached.
Eligible topics are:
1.
Clean coal;
2.
New combustion technology;
3.
Thin-seam coal extraction safety;
4.
Tracking and communication devices;
5.
Coal slurry disposal;
6.
Synthetic natural gas produced from coal through gasification
processes;
7.
Development of alternative transportation fuels produced by
processes that convert coal or biomass resources or extract oil from oil shale;
8.
Other coal research that is targeted solely to Kentucky’s Local
Government Economic Development Fund-eligible counties (https://kydlgweb.ky.gov/Documents/Coal/CoalCountiessimple.jpg).
Limited Submission: Only one
application for each of the eight topics listed above may be submitted by a
single organization.

Because the
guidelines limit an institution to one application per each eligible topic,
the University of Kentucky has established an internal selection process.
Individuals interested in submitting to this program are to send the
following information electronically to limitedsubmissions@uky.edu and a copy to their
Associate Dean for Research by March 11, 2014:
A
committee will be appointed to review the applications and make
recommendations. All applicants will be notified of the results.

Commonwealth deadline is March 31, 2014.
