Funding-Limited Submission – W.K. Kellogg Foundation - Family Engagement Initiative; September 12, 2013

The W.K. Kellogg Foundation now seeks initial submissions of intent from organizations and groups striving to build innovative, equitable, and effective family-engagement approaches. We are particularly interested in strategies that build upon the strengths of families and focus on engaging them during their children’s earliest years, from birth through age 8.

Amount: Organizations may apply for grants totaling up to $500,000 and for a grant period ranging from one to three years.

Institutional Limit: Organizations may submit only one initial submission on which they are the lead applicant.

Limited Submission: Because the sponsor limits the number of applications an institution may submit, the University of Kentucky has established an internal selection process. Eligible researchers who wish to be considered for this program should submit the following information electronically to the Office of the Vice President for Research at limitedsubmissions@uky.edu and a copy to their Associate Dean for Research by Thursday, September 12, 2013:

·         Names and departments of the PI, key personnel and community partners;

·         Project description (1-2 pages max.) to include: project need, targeted populations and program activities.

The Vice President for Research will appoint a committee to review the material and make recommendations. All applicants will be notified of the results. The pre-application deadline is September 23, 2013. Kellogg will invite selected applicants to submit a full proposal due in November, 2013 and will give “priority consideration …. to applicants whose organizations show evidence (if selected to submit a full proposal) of committed financial resources that would leverage W.K. Kellogg Foundation resources with a cash match of at least 20 percent of the proposed amount.”

Questions about the submission process may be sent to Ms. Annette Evans in the Office of the Vice President for Research (alevan4@email.uky.edu or 257-1663.)
