Funding-UK $5,000 Fellowships for Gordon Research Conference of RNA Nanotechnology participation; November 3, 2014

The Markey Cancer Center (MCC) is offering 10 fellowships (at $500 per attendee) to provide partial support for MCC researchers to attend the Gordon Research Conference (GRC) on RNA Nanotechnology, which will be held in Ventura, CA, from February 1-6, 2015.

The provisional program for 2015 GRC includes world-renowned speakers and discussion leaders and is designed to attract a diverse cross-section of the scientific community. The unique setting of GRC, with programmed discussion sessions, provides an avenue for scientists to brainstorm, hold in-depth discussions and promote inter-disciplinary collaborations.

The meeting topics and speakers list will be published in the special issue of Science in September. Topics include:

* structure and folding of RNA nanoparticles;

* physical and chemical approaches in RNA nanotechnology;

* computation, prediction, and modeling of RNA nanoparticle structures;

* application of RNA nanoparticles in therapeutics for the treatment of diseases; and

* two sessions covering the exciting new area of extracellular RNA for biomarker and therapeutic development.

Because of the prestige and limited size of this and other GRC conferences, applications require approval by the GRC chair prior to the formal registration process.  This conference is chaired by MCC member Dr. Peixuan Guo.

To begin the fellowship application, follow this link: http://fs9.formsite.com/Markey-CEL/form44/index.html. Upon successful completion of the preliminary application, you will be forwarded to the GRC registration site.

IMPORTANT:  Please do not pay any registration costs at this time. Your preliminary application will be evaluated by the GRC Chair, and you will be notified by December 1 if you are selected to present your research at the GRC.

DEADLINE: Monday, November 3, 2014, is the deadline for fellowship application.
