Notification of project approval and grant signing expected by July 23rd, 2012Executive Summary:The Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental, and Scientific Affairs (OES) at the U.S. Department of State (DOS) requests applications from non-profits, non-governmental organizations, educational institutions, and public international organizations for grants to support the management of a workshop series on multi-purpose infrastructure. DOS is interested in efforts to catalyze a global dialogue on multi-purpose infrastructure and surrounding natural infrastructure at the nexus of water, food and energy, for the purpose of supporting developing countries. DOS is seeking to enter into a Cooperative Agreement with one, or a consortium of several non-profits, non-governmental organizations, or international organizations to establish and implement the Nexus Dialogue on Dams and Water Infrastructure Optimization. The Cooperative Agreement will support the creation of a platform to identify, analyze and disseminate best practices related to dams and water infrastructure and the surrounding environment. Additional consideration will be given to programs that provide incentives for country buy-in for improved infrastructure operation and system optimization. Leveraging existing knowledge, expertise, and initiatives across multiple sectors will be a critical component of this Cooperative Agreement. DOS will give full consideration to other innovative partnerships.
