Funding-Limited Submission - PhRMA Foundation - Pre Doctoral Fellowships (Informatics and Pharmacology/Toxicology); September 1, 2016

Purpose: These programs provide up to two years of stipend funding to support full-time advanced students who will have completed most of their pre-thesis requirements (at least two years of study) and be engaged in thesis research as Ph.D. candidates by the time the award is activated.

• Informatics- The goal of the Informatics program is to promote development and use of informatics in an integrative approach toward understanding normal processes of human biology and disease processes.

• Pharmacology/Toxicology- Awards support career development activities of scientists embarking on research that integrates information on molecular or cellular mechanisms of action with information on the effects of an agent observed in an intact organism, in experimental animal or clinical studies or both.

Internal Competition: To be considered as the University’s nominee, researchers are to submit the following material electronically, assembled into a single PDF document, to the Office of the Vice President for Research at limitedsubmissions@uky.edu and a copy to their Associate Dean for Research by Tuesday, June 28, 2016:

· Names and departments of the PI and Senior Project Personnel

· Title of the program and/or funding opportunity announcement number

· Topic area (Informatics; Pharmacology/Toxicology) and brief project description (2 pages maximum).

A committee will be convened to review the applications and make recommendations. Questions about the submission process may be sent to Ms. Annette Evans in the Office of the Vice President for Research (limitedsubmissions@uky.edu or 257-1663).
