Funding-Limited
Submission - Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and The
Pew Charitable Trusts - Health Impact Project;
March 18, 2014
Description:
The Health
Impact Project, a collaboration of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation
(RWJF) and The Pew Charitable Trusts (Pew), promotes the use of Health Impact
Assessments (HIAs) and related approaches to help policy-makers in a wide range
of fields incorporate health considerations into new policies, programs, plans,
and projects, and make decisions that reduce unnecessary health risks, improve
health, and decrease costs. This call for proposals supports two types of
initiatives: 1) HIA demonstration projects that inform a specific
decision and help to build the case for the value of HIA; and 2) HIA program
grants to enable organizations with previous HIA experience to conduct HIAs
and develop sustainable, self-supporting HIA programs at the local, state, or
tribal level
Amount:
Demonstration Projects: up to $100,000 for 18 months; Program Grants: up
to $250,000 for program grants for 24 months.
Matching Funds: Grantees will be
asked to provide a minimum of $100,000 in matching funds for Program Grants, either through in-kind
contributions or through outside funding sources. The Health Impact Project will
accept only one proposal per organization.
Institutional Limits:
An applicant organization may submit up to two
brief proposals total under this solicitation. For example, an applicant may
submit two Demonstration Project brief proposals, two Program Grant brief
proposals, or one brief proposal for each grant type. However, the Health
Impact Project will fund no more than one full proposal per organization.
Internal
Competition:
Because the Health Impact Project limits the number of applications that
may be submitted, the University of Kentucky has established an internal
selection process. Individuals interested in submitting to this program should send
the following information to the Office of the Vice President for Research at limitedsubmissions@uky.edu
and a copy to their Associate Dean for Research by Tuesday, March 18, 2014:
A
committee will be appointed to review the information and make recommendations.
Questions about the submission process may be sent to Ms. Annette Evans in the
Office of the Vice President for Research (alevan4@email.uky.edu
or 257-1663.)
