Funding-Limited Submission – Aetna Foundation – Local Roots Program; May 6, 2015

 

Purpose: This program supports the creation and expansion of community gardens, urban farms, and farmers’ markets in underserved, low-income, and minority communities. To be eligible, all projects must include nutrition education or cooking classes focused on the health benefits of fresh produce; the growing or distribution of produce that reflects the food traditions of the target area; opportunities to learn job skills or entrepreneurship within the context of community gardens, urban farms, or farmers’ markets; and/or opportunities for community service or volunteer work.

Internal Competition: To participate in the University’s selection process, researchers are to submit the following material electronically, assembled into a single PDF document, to the Office of the Vice President for Research at limitedsubmissions@uky.edu and a copy to their Associate Dean for Research by Tuesday, April 14, 2015:

·         Names and departments of the PI, and Senior Project Personnel

·         Title of the program and/or funding opportunity announcement number

·         Brief project description (2 pages maximum).
