Funding-SOUTHERN SARE INVITES RESEARCH PROPOSALS; June, 2009

The Southern Region Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Program (Southern SARE) invites preproposals for the next round of Research and Education grants and proposals for Graduate Student grants. Submissions to these two programs are due in June and must be submitted through an online template. Obtain all Southern SARE calls for proposals at http://www.southernsare.uga.edu/callpage.htm

Southern SARE recently awarded more than $3 million in grants for 2009. The grants, distributed through six different programs, ranged in amounts of more than $200,000 for university-based research about no-till systems designed for small organic farms to less than $5,000 for a producer experiment grafting heirloom tomatoes on disease resistant rootstock.

Southern SARE administers 6 grant programs which release calls at staggered times of the year. Later this year calls for proposals will be released for the Professional Development Program Grants, Producer Grants, On-Farm Research Grants and Sustainable Community Grants.
