Funding-Limited Submission - USDA – Children, Youth, and Families At-Risk 4-H Military Partnership Program (USDA-NIFA-SLBCD-004335); July 18, 2013

The National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) announces the availability of grant funds for the Children, Youth and Families at Risk (CYFAR) 4-H Military Partnership Project (CYFAR-CMP) for fiscal year 2013 to marshal the resources of the Land-grant Cooperative Extension System to develop and deliver educational programs, professional development and technical assistance for military children and youth.

CYFAR-CMP has two strategic objectives:

  1. To support the development of Cooperative Extension’s educational 4-H programs for military-connected youth based on identified needs and soundly grounded in research.
  2. To integrate CYFAR-CMP programming into ongoing Extension programs for children, youth, and families – ensuring that military-connected youth continue to be part of Extension 4-H programs and have access to resources and educational opportunities.

CYFAR-CMP encourages projects that develop content and programs suitable for delivery through the Cooperative Extension System’s eXtension Initiative. Funds may be used to contribute to the existing Military Families Learning Network (MFLN) or to form a new Community of Practice focused on the needs of military-connected youth. Projects must align with the eXtension vision, mission, and values. A letter of acknowledgement from eXtension is required, and a letter of support may be required from one or more of the Communities of Practice. For detailed guidance on how to partner with eXtension, go to http://create.extension.org/node/2057

NIFA will accept only one (1) primary grantee application per land-grant institution.

A committee will be appointed to review the information and make a recommendation. Questions about the submission process may be sent to Ms. Annette Evans in the Office of the Vice President for Research (alevan4@email.uky.edu or 257-1663).

The USDA deadline is August 8, 2013.
