NATIONAL URBAN AND COMMUNITY FORESTRY DEVELOPMENT OF THE TEN YEAR ACTION PLAN;
July 28, 2013
Agency
Name
USDA
Description
The National Urban and Community Forestry Advisory
Council’s authorizing legislation requires the Council to have a National Urban
and Community Forestry Action Plan every ten years. The current Ten Year Action
Plan, 2006-2016, is to be updated by the end of 2015 for the Council to meet
its mandate. The Forest Service is seeking proposals from qualified
organizations to conduct assessments and reviews of the nation’s urban forest
resources and the urban and community forestry programs and activities
conducted by Federal and State agencies, private companies, nonprofit
organizations, community and civic organizations and other interested parties
across the country. Applicants will be expected to address the key elements in
the legislation. This will also include incorporating the Council’s comments
and recommendations. Proposals should address the process, assessment, compilation
of information, analysis, reporting and publishing of the ten year plan. Funds
will be provided through the U.S. Forest Service’s Fiscal Year 2013 Urban and
Community Forestry (U&CF) Program for a grant agreement. Funds are to
support the process for developing a National Urban and Community Forestry
Advisory Council’s Ten Year Action Plan, 2017-2027, as mandated by Congress.
All awards are based on the availability of funding, which may be subject to
change.
