Funding-Limited Submission - USDA – 2014 Hazardous Fuels Wood to Energy Grant Program; May 6, 2014

The U.S Forest Service Wood Education and Resource Center (WERC) requests proposals for wood energy projects that require engineering services necessary for final design and cost analysis. The Hazardous Fuels Wood to Energy (W2E) Grant Program will fund projects for which some or all of the woody biomass is generated from National Forest Service System lands as a result of hazardous fuel treatments, forest restoration activities, insect and disease mitigation, catastrophic weather events, or thinning overstocked stands.

Cost Sharing:  Applicants shall demonstrate at least a 20% match of the total project cost. This match shall be from non-federal sources, which can include cash or in-kind contributions.

Limited Submission: Only 1 (one) application per organization will be accepted.

See the complete program announcement for additional details and requirements:  http://www.na.fs.fed.us/werc/w2e/2014-w2e-rfp.shtm

Because the Department of Agriculture only allows an organization to submit one application, the University of Kentucky has established an internal selection process.  Individuals interested in submitting to this program are to submit the following materials electronically to the Office of the Vice President for Research at limitedsubmissions@uky.edu and a copy to their Associate Dean for Research by Tuesday, May 6, 2014:

·         A budget with cost share and potential sources of funding for that cost share. Note:  Because of ongoing commitments, the Office of the Vice President for Research is unable to provide matching funds.

A committee will be appointed to review the information and make a recommendation.  Questions about the submission process may be sent to Ms. Annette Evans in the Office of the Vice President for Research (alevan4@email.uky.edu or 257-1663).

The USDA deadline is June 3, 2014.
