Environmental
grantmaking has been a key priority of the Carolyn
Foundation for the past 30 years. Over that time the Foundation has
funded a wide range of programs in many different communitities
across the United States. The Foundation's current priority is promoting
renewable energy at the local, regional and national level; funded programs
have reduced air, water and global warming pollution. The Foundation has funded
programs that have help local communities increase energy efficiency and
decrease their reliance on dirty coal. At the regional level the Foundation has
supported work to help enable policy makers across several states work together
on strategies for implementing effective renewable energy policies and
practices. And, at the federal level the Foundation has funded education;
monitoring and evaluation projects that help keep national environmental work
on track. Other types of environmental proposals will be consider
as funds are available.
