The
objective of the Lung Health Research Dissertation Grant is to support doctoral
research training for dissertation research on issues relevant to lung disease.
These awards are intended for nurses in any field and/or students with an
academic career focus on the various disciplines of social science, i.e.:

Psychosocial
lung health research
·
Behavioral
lung health research
·
Health
services and health policy research
·
Epidemiological
and biostatistical lung health research
·
Public
Health education research
The
American Lung Association is committed to its mission to save lives by
improving lung health and preventing lung disease. The Association is focused
on the following mission-related Strategic Planning Goals:

Eliminate
tobacco use and tobacco-related lung diseases
·
Improve
the air we breathe so it will not cause or worsen lung disease
·
Reduce
the burden of lung disease on patients and their families
The
American Lung Association is particularly interested in highly meritorious
research projects focusing on these goals in the following areas: air pollution,
asthma, COPD, lung cancer and tobacco.
Award
Information: Lung
Health Dissertation Grants are $21,000 per year. Up to $16,000 of the award may
be used for a student stipend. Funds may not be used for tuition.
Duration: Lung Health Dissertation Grants are
subject to annual review and may be granted for up to two years.
