Description
For FY 2011, the Rural
Health and Safety Education Programs will focus on issues related to individual
and family health in one or more of the following areas: 1) Analysis or
education regarding the impact of societal factors (e.g., income, education,
unemployment/employment security, social exclusion, food security/insecurity,
housing quality, health insurance coverage) on health among rural and farm
families; 2) Analysis or education regarding health literacy or health
disparities in access and usage of health services or of health conditions and
their respective impact on health status of rural and farm families; and/or 3)
Related issues of health promotion and health care to rural individuals and
families with: *Information as to the value of good health at any age;
*Information to increase individual or family's motivation to take more
responsibility for their own health;*Information about and access to health
promotion and educational activities; and *Training for volunteers and health
services providers concerning health promotion and health care services for
individuals and families in cooperation with local and community partners.
