General-UK Environmental Issues Event: April 2, 2013

Colleagues,

We would like you to save April 2 – 4 on your calendars for the UK Environmental Issues Event.  There are four activities in which you and your students might be interested.  Please assist us in our planning by responding to numbers 1 and 2 by the deadlines specified.

1.    Charles Mann, author of ‘1491’ and ‘1493,’ will be speaking in the Student Center at 7:00pm on April 2.  This event is free and open to the public.  However, to accommodate faculty and students first and to determine the appropriate venue, tickets will be required for admittance.  Therefore, if you would like tickets for you and your students, please respond to this email and let me know how many you would like by February 1.

2.    A Student Poster Session will be included, allowing students studying natural resources, environmental topics or sustainability themes to display posters.  Natural and social science students are welcome.  If you have a student who is interested in participating, please respond to this email and include a 350-word abstract by February 15. Information regarding poster criteria can be found at:      http://www2.ca.uky.edu/environment/enviro_event_2013

3.    The 3rd Annual Conference on Invasion Biology, Ecology and Management, with a theme of ‘Where we were, where we are, and where we should be,’ will be held April 3 – 4.  In addition to invited speakers, submitted technical and non-technical presentations on a wide array of topics pertaining to invasions and invasiveness will be offered.
