(FOA)-Limited Submission – Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation – Moore Inventor Fellows; January 8, 2019

 

Purpose: The Moore Inventor Fellows program supports scientist-inventors at a critical stage of research to capture opportunities that otherwise might be missed. The program seeks to provide freedom and support early-career scientist-inventors who create new tools and technologies with a high potential to accelerate progress in the foundation’s areas of interest: scientific research, environmental conservation and patient care.

 

Eligibility: The competition is open to faculty and staff at eligible institutions. All candidates must be no more than 10 years past receiving their Ph.D., M.D., M.S. or other terminal degree. Fellows must be engaged in the pursuit of their invention at least 25 percent time for the three-year duration of the award.

 

Funding Amount/ Project Period: $675,000 over three years. The fellow receives $600,000 and the home institution receives $75,000.

Matching Requirement: $50,000/year in annual direct support of the inventor’s work. See the FAQs for specific guidance on the institution’s annual contribution.

A committee will be convened to review the material and make a recommendation.
