Information-Invitation
to test a two-photon microscope; October 10 through November 23, 2016
Two researchers from the Department of Pharmacology and
Nutritional Sciences and the Sanders Brown Center on Aging are planning to
submit a S10 proposal to NIH for a state-of-the-art multi photon microscope in
2017. To collect required preliminary
data and evaluate different experimental settings, they have arranged for one
vendor (Scientifica)
to set up a two-photon microscope demonstration and enable UK researchers to
run samples and test the equipment. A similar Nikon demonstration is planned to occur in January
(details to come later).
Scientifica Demonstration:
Dates: October 10 to November 23
Location: MS310, College of Medicine
Details: 2-photon laser and single microscope capable of imaging deep
structures in vivo and ex vivo.
Advantages: live deep imaging
and concomitant electrophysiology in brain slices; imaging of both penetrating
arterioles and venules as well as imaging of most
visible indicators or wherever deep tissue or sample imaging is applicable.
