Description

The U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) - Department of Commerce through the National Ocean Service (NOS) has released the    “National Competitive Harmful Algal Bloom Programs”, NOAA-NOS-NCCOS-2019-2005810.  NOS is soliciting proposals for the Monitoring and Event Response for Harmful Algal Blooms (MERHAB) and The Ecology and Oceanography of Harmful Algal Blooms (ECOHAB) Research Programs.  HABs are caused by diverse organisms, including toxic and noxious phytoplankton, some protists, cyanobacteria, benthic algae, and macroalgae. Blooms can extend over large geographic areas, be composed of more than one harmful or toxic species, and cause significant impacts on fisheries, recreation, human health, and the ecology of both marine and freshwater bodies.
