FOA-Limited Submission – Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) – Events Sponsorship Program; March 1, 2021

 

Purpose: The Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) is a university consortium leveraging the scientific strength of major research institutions to advance science and education by partnering with national laboratories, government agencies, and private industry. The ORAU Events Sponsorship Program provides support for events that involve participants from more than one ORAU institution. Typical events might include visits to an ORAU institution by a renowned speaker, conferences or workshops with a focused theme, or a technology transfer/business plan competition. A representative from ORAU must be invited to the event and will attend, if possible. Funding is now available for events to take place between May 1, 2021 and September 30, 2021. New events are preferred over ongoing or annual events with established financial models. Seminar series will not be considered for support due to the limited engagement by other ORAU member institutions. Funding must be awarded prior to the event and all events must be completed by September 30 of each year.

 

Criteria include:

·        Event participation by more than one ORAU institution

·        Potential impact of the event, including the number of institutions or participants

·        Student participation

 

Note: As UK’s ORAU Councilor, the Vice President for Research submits the application on behalf of the selected applicant. The ORAU website is pending an update an may not have the dates posted for the next application cycle.

Funding Amount: up to $4,000 direct costs only

 

Institutional Limit: 1 for an event occurring between May 1, 2021 and September 30, 2021

 

Internal Competition:  To participate in the university’s selection process,please upload the following,assembled into a single PDF file, to the Office of the Vice President for Research via this portal with a copy to your Associate Dean for Research by  :

·        The names and departments of the Project Director and key personnel

·        Title of the program and/or funding opportunity announcement number

·        Brief conference description (2 pages maximum), including plans for involvement of other ORAU member institutions and an ORAU representative.

·        Brief biographical sketch

 

A committee will be convened to review the material and make a recommendation.
