Submission – CDC– National Center of Excellence for the Prevention of Childhood
Agricultural Injury (RFA-OH-20-007); April 24, 2020
Purpose: The
National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) invites
applications for a National Center of Excellence for the Prevention of Childhood
Agricultural Injury. Applicants for this opportunity are expected to propose
multi-disciplinary approaches to conduct research and outreach and to serve as a
leader in research translation and research-to-practice for the protection of
children in agricultural environments throughout the United States. Applicants
must describe the health and safety burden(s) addressed in their proposals. In
addition, they must link the need for the proposed research and related
activities to the planned outputs and outcomes that will help address or
alleviate these burdens. Applicants should also identify the anticipated
impacts and potential outcomes of the proposed research and related activities
that will occur during the five-year project period and beyond.
Applications should have a
national scope for the research and related activities described in this
announcement. This includes 1) reducing and preventing youth exposures and
hazards on the farm, 2) increasing safety culture, and 3) widely disseminating
best practices and other information for use by families and employers. The
National Children's Center is expected to work closely with academic and
research partners and other stakeholder organizations to advance research
integration by informing best practices and effective solutions. Note:
The CDC expects to make one award.
