FOA-Radcliffe Institute - Fellowship Program; September 10 or October 1, 2020

Description:

The Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University is dedicated to creating and sharing transformative ideas across the arts, humanities, sciences, and social sciences. To that end, it welcomes applications for its 2021-22 Radcliffe Institute Fellowship Program. Each year, the program makes grants to fifty exceptional scientists, writers, scholars, public intellectuals, and artists whose work is making a difference in their professional fields and in  larger world. Fellows receive a stipend of $78,000, an additional $5,000 to cover project expenses, and an opportunity to step away from usual routines and dive deeply into a project. The fellowship runs from September 2021 through May 2022. In addition, during the fellowship year, fellows convene regularly to share their progress. Fellows are expected to reside in the greater Boston area for the duration of their fellowship and may be eligible to receive additional funds for moving expenses, childcare, and housing to aid them in making a smooth transition. Healthcare options are made available as needed.

While not exclusive, the following projects are of interest to the institute: applications from scholars, artists, and practitioners for work that confronts pressing social and policy issues and seeks to engage audiences beyond academia; proposals relevant to the institute’s focus areas, which include law, education, and justice; youth leadership and civic engagement; and legacies of slavery. Projects may also focus on women, gender, and society, or draw on the rich collections of the Schlesinger Library.

Closing Date:

September 10, 2020 for humanities, social sciences, and creative arts;

October 1, 2020 for science, engineering, mathematics
