Special Research Grants Program - Aquaculture Research (USDA-NIFA-SRGP-006738) February 19, 2020

Agency

US Department of Agriculture - National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA)

Description

The second round of the FY19/FY20 NIFA applied aquaculture research application for 2020 is due soon. For FY19/20, a new category for smaller, seed projects, with an intent to generate preliminary data for future submissions to the NIFA aquaculture program; is added.  Applications must directly address major constraints to the U.S. aquaculture industry; and focus on one or more of the following Program Area Priorities:

1.     Genetics of commercial aquaculture species;

2.     Critical disease issues impacting commercial aquaculture species;

3.     Design of environmentally and economically sustainable aquaculture production systems; or

4.     Economic research for increasing aquaculture profitability.

Applications must clearly state how the research results or technology will be transferred to end-users outside of direct scientific peers. Applications that involve industry participation are encouraged. Proposals that focus on pathogens that pose a risk to human food safety (vs. those that affect the health of aquaculture species) are outside the scope of this program and will not be accepted for review.

Matching support is no longer required for the Aquaculture Research program.
