Description

Walmart is seeking letters of intent for community-based projects that use a new approach for increasing access to healthier foods in regions and/or for populations that experience disproportionate rates of food insecurity.

Proposals must demonstrate that the project will:

• Increase access to healthier foods as aligned with USDA MyPlate. Priority is given to projects with a focus on fresh foods.
• Reach a region or population that has a food insecurity rate above 15% or other relevant data points. Examples include:
• Rural areas
• The South
• Minority households
• American Indian and Alaska Native populations
• Use a new approach that needs to be tested or has some level of success but not widely adopted

 

Eligibility

Eligible applicants are public entities and 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations based in the U.S. or its territories.

While national organizations are eligible to apply, priority will be given to applicants that are community-based organizations.
