The National
Institute of Health plans to issue a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) in
the spring of 2008 as part of the NIH Roadmap program, The National Technology
Centers for Networks and Pathways (TCNP, http://nihroadmap.nih.gov/buildingblocks/technologycenters).
This program was begun in 2004 and supports five centers for an initial funding
period of five years. The program will be renewed in an open competition in
FY2009. The goal of Phase II of the TCNP program is to accelerate the progress
of proteomics from static maps to quantitative functional models by the
creation, broad application, and dissemination of instrumentation, biophysical
methods, reagents, and infrastructure specifically focused on the problem of
quantitative temporal and spatial characterization of protein networks and
pathways. New approaches to the characterization of these transient
interactions will be the focus of the RFA for the second phase of the program,
to be issued in spring 2008, with applications expected in fall 2008. This RFA
will utilize the U54 cooperative agreement mechanism.
